The Insurance professionals only source for News

Physicians Healthcare Management Group, Inc. (OTC: PHYH) and Chicago, IL-based Sorry Works!, the nation’s leading advocacy group for disclosure and apologies after adverse events and medical errors, is joining forces with Physhield, a new medical malpractice insurer for physicians, to work together to provide disclosure training to Physhield’s insured physicians and potential insured physicians. The joint announcement was made in connection with both organizations’ participation in the “Seeing Your Way Clear To Apology and Disclosure” conference organized by the education arm of The Joint Commission, www.jointcommission.org, the leading agency for the accreditation and certification of the nation’s healthcare organizations.

“We are excited by this partnership and the progress it represents for the disclosure movement in United States healthcare. This is a major step. Physhield is a new medical malpractice insurance company that is not constrained by the age-old insurance industry views on risk and claims management, and thus they are able to join with us to promote and teach disclosure to their current and prospective physician insureds,” said Doug Wojcieszak, Founder & Spokesperson for The Sorry Works! Coalition. “This is an exciting partnership.”

Physhield Insurance Exchange, a Risk Retention Group, www.physhield.com, provides medical malpractice insurance to physician groups and organizations operating primarily in a managed care setting. Physhield is an affiliate of Phyhealth, www.phyhealth.com, a corporation that partners with physicians to develop and operate 21st century community health plans. Physhield enables physician organizations to manage their own liability risk independently, similar to operating their own captive. Physicians operating a Phyhealth Plan can be eligible for Physhield protection with premium subsidies by the Plan of up to 100%.

“We have a unique business model that brings power and control back to physicians. They can better manage their medical malpractice program and can make the decisions that will best benefit their patients, the patients’ families, and ultimately, themselves. We believe that by combining medical malpractice risk management with Phyhealth’s brand of preventive and coordinated care, we give physicians the best opportunity to deliver high quality care and reduce medical errors,” said Robert Trinka, President and Founder of Physhield and Phyhealth.

“When it comes to medical liability, nothing is more empowering for physicians than the ability to maintain effective communications with patients and their families following adverse events. Physhield is a forward-thinking insurer, and we want our physician subscribers to develop and use superior communication skills and problem solving techniques so they can resolve many situations without litigation. This is the Sorry Works! approach and exactly why we are so proud and excited to be partnering with them to bring disclosure to our physician subscribers,” added Trinka.

Physhield is initially writing policies in Florida, Texas, Nevada, and California.

“Sorry Works! has a lot of followers in those four states, so we are eager to introduce them to our Physhield partners,” added Wojcieszak.

Sorry Works! and Physhield will promote their partnership through their websites, e-newsletters, and joint seminars starting with Florida, Texas, Nevada, and California and later throughout the nation. Additional promotional activities will be announced in the near future.
